A pair of Vietnamese wood statues of Buddhist monks. They represent Ananda (younger) and Kashyapa (older).
Polychrome lacquer over a wood body. Gold-colored gilt lacquer.
As is common practice for preserving temple figures, the face has been repainted several times over the years in order to keep them in good condition.
Teak or other dense tropical wood.
About 12' x 14" x 36" each.
