Offered is a mid 20th Century, circa. 1960s, sgraffito glazed stoneware vessel signed by the artisan on the bottom. It resembles the work of the Hungarian ceramist, Livia Gorka (1925 - 2011), Alingsås Keramik of Sweden, Gunvor Olin-Grönqvist's ceramic wares, etc.
It measures 5.5" in diameter at its widest on the bottom, and 6.125" in height.
Sgraffito (from the Italian) is an artistic or decorative technique of scratching through a coating on a hard surface to reveal parts of another underlying coating which is in a contrasting colour.
It vessel be used as a vase for dried floral arrangements, a planter, a utensil or paint-brush holder, or displayed among other ceramics. Because it is stoneware, it is porous and will probably not withhold water.
