Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, it had been refinished prior to our obtaining the table. There are some scratch type indentations in the top’s finish but does not go through to wood and one small age split. The table is very versatile in expansion options as it has two hinged drop leaf sides AND it comes with not only one… but TWO drop in leaves which means… MULTIPLE manipulations!! For example, you can have both drop leaves up or down and no leaves inserted OR drop leaves up (or down) and ONE leaf inserted… OR TWO. William & Mary style was a distinguished transitional period between the Jacobean period and the Georgian period and has mingled in marvelously with Traditional & Country styles for years. Abernathy Furniture was a wholesale & retail furniture company founded in 1856 by James L. Abernathy and his brothers and was based in Leavenworth, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. It was one of the earliest and most successful businesses in the state at that time. The company’s large warehouse was located in the Kansas City West Bottoms district that has been repurposed and converted into a modern urban apartment living space and is now considered a historic landmark. There is not a lot of information concerning the later years or knowledge or material regarding the closing of the company in the 1950’s however, their furnishings are still sought after in the United States.
