He produced the 26 plates for "Views of the Remains of Ancient Buildings in Rome and its Vicinity." for its first publication in 1820. The work, and its appealing hand colored engravings, proved so popular that it was published again in 1838, and still again in 1844. This set of 5 views of Roman monuments and ruins is in fair condition. The prints reflect an 1820's spelling of the monuments' names, which has evolved over time, as have some of the names themselves. Included are - The Coliseum, Tomb of Cecilia Metella, The Grotto of Egeria, The Temple of the Dea Tussis and the Forum of Nerva. Slightly browned outside the image, partly with small tears in the margin. Minimal brown spots and a few slight creases. The pictures itself clean, except The Temple of the Dea Tussis, which shows slight browning in the image. A great decorative set, ideal for framing for any Italian history lover. See less
