Vit sculpin, Cottus gobio 117, pogge, Agonus cataphractus 118, and sea scorpion, Myoxocephalus scorpius 119. Lumpfish, Cyclopterus lumpus 48, sea snail, Liparis liparis 49, and Atlantic spiny lumpsucker, Eumicrotremus spinosus 51. Snake blenny, Ophidion barbatum 73, lesser spiny eel, Macrognathus aculeatus 74, wolf fish, Anarhichas lupus 75, and its jaw and teeth 76,77. These prints originate from 'Unterhaltungen aus der Naturgeschichte: Der Fische erster Theil, Volume 5' by Gottlieb Tobias Wilhelm. Published 1832. Gottlieb Tobias Wilhelm (1758 – 1811) was a Protestant pastor and natural history writer, and the son of Christian Art Wilhelm, an art dealer and publisher in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. These engravings are from the fish section of Wilhelm’s monumental 25 volume work on Natural History. Published from 1777 through to the 1800s, with a total of 1469 exquisite illustrations by the renowned engravers of Augsburg’s famous print empire, once known as the European Image Factory. See less
