The print, approximately 20 x 33 cm on its original 39 x 51 cm mount, captures the ship against a calm sea, highlighting its sleek design suited for reconnaissance and patrol duties. SMS Hela served during the pre-WWI era and was known for its role in patrolling German waters. During World War I, it was sunk by a British submarine in 1914, making it one of the early German naval losses of the war. See less
