Title: Statues of Guardian Deities – Plate VIII, Section VIII : This monochrome lithograph showcases two dynamic and imposing statues of traditional Japanese guardian deities, known as Niō (仁王). These fierce-looking figures are depicted in powerful stances, each exuding strength and vigilance. The statues exhibit exceptional detail, from the rippling musculature to the intricate folds of their garments. The figure on the left appears in a defensive posture with one hand raised in a gesture of warning, while the figure on the right brandishes an arm, suggesting readiness for action.
