This print originates from 'View of the Cities and Strongholds of the United Netherlands with the adjacent Places in Brabant, Flanders, and the Rhine and elsewhere conquered by the Arms of the Great and Mighty Lord States under the Command of the Very Noble and High Princes of Orange', Antwerp, 1680. This work is quite scarce and rarely offered for sale. The views are attractive, with panoramic impressions of the cities set in a romantic rural or maritime scene. Artists and Engravers: Published by G. Bouttats after I. Peeters. Gaspar Bouttats (1625-1695) was a Flemish engraver from Antwerp, mostly working for book publishers. Ioan / Jan I Peeters (1624-1677) was a Flemish painter of marine scenes. Later he also became an art dealer. He was a student of his brothers Bonaventura and Gilles. His students include his children Jan Frans and Isabelle and Adriaen van Bloemen. Condition: Good, general age-related toning. Passepartout/matting included. Please study image carefully.
