Heavy Impasto Portrait of Chief Crazy Horse by Harald Dry Schmidt
Abstract expressionist portrait of a man by California artist Harald "Harry" Dry Schmidt (American, 1933-1979). The man appears to have wild hair, or possibly a headdress, as well as a medallion around his neck. The heavy use of textured brush strokes creates movement within the piece. The painting features large ridges and the evidence of wet-on-wet painting techniques.
Harald Dryschmidt was an eclectic San Francisco Abstract and Outsider artist from 1960-1990.
Signed "Dryschmidt" in the lower right corner.
