Engravings depicting depicting iconic London landmarks. Both engravings have been hand-colored, giving a soft, atmospheric quality to the scenes—blues, greys, and earth tones lending depth to the architecture and skies.
Left print: The Marble Arch – showing the neoclassical triumphal arch designed by John Nash, bustling with carriages and figures, set among trees with a moody sky above.
Right print: St. Paul’s Cathedral – a sweeping view across the River Thames, with boats and barges in the foreground and the great dome of Christopher Wren’s cathedral rising dramatically against the skyline.
Burlwood veneer frames with inner bezel in gold leaf. Plexiglass. Drawn by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd (active 1824-1850). Engraved by James Tingle.
The frame is 1-7/8"W. The blank paper and engraving is 8.5"W x 6.25"H. The engraving itself is 6.5"W x 4.25"H. The original hardware tab is 1"H.
