Pieces this intact simply don’t surface often. Authentic, weathered, and whole, it’s the kind of find that disappears quickly into serious collections—and stays there.
Dating to ca. 1880–1910, this copper cow vane with arrow is crafted with crisp crimping and clean solder seams, hallmarks of serious late-19th-century workshops. While unattributed, the broad paddle-tail arrow recalls designs of J.L. Mott and J.W. Fiske.
The surface displays an outstanding verdigris patina, layered in turquoise, olive, and brown hues. Unlike most vanes that suffered repair, this example remains structurally intact: seams tight, arrow and figure secure.
