This original brush and ink drawing is part of a six-month series of weekly figure studies I created in 2025. Each week, I invited a new volunteer to sit for me, bringing their unique presence and story into the studio. This piece depicts my best friend’s sister, captured in bold ink lines and soft washes of shadow.
What made this series especially meaningful was the conversation shared during the sittings. Rather than the traditional quiet observation of figure drawing, we engaged in open, woman-to-woman dialogue. These intimate yet non-romantic exchanges infused each piece with a deeper layer of connection—an echo of the model’s lived experience intertwined with their physical form.
The result is an artwork that feels both powerful and tender, a celebration of the human body as well as the unseen stories it carries.
