Painted in Sax Berlin's iconic Sharp Edge style, Wise Up displays motif's from Africa, see the display of flags at the bottom of the canvas for example, and instantly recognisable symbols from Western popular culture. Berlin strives to enlighten one about the evil of racism in this reflection of his vision of modern society. The painting is laced with meaning and interwoven with art history, allowing Berlin to write an essay in paint.
