A stock character of Russian marionette theatre since the 18th Century, set in St. Petersburg this is a burlesque tale of unrequited love. Charlatan brings the puppets to life and the story begins; Petrurushka loves the Ballerina, but she loves the Moor. The Russian ballet was composed by Stravinsky and Vaslav Nijinsky famously danced the title role. Forming part of Berlins' Harlekings series he captures the pathos of Petrushka & the larger story.,
