Brutalism emerged in the 50s in The United Kingdom among the reconstruction projects of the post-war era. Albertto Giametti is the most famous of the Brutalist sculptures, Art And Architecture. This sculpture is made from Ironstone and appears greyish green. The subject matter of this piece is a warrior looking upward in supplication. Under his right foot are the remnants of a broken sword, as if to imply that he is in the process of asking for forgiveness for all his war time battle of broken souls and lifeless bodies. I purchased this lovely piece from a antique store in Las Vegas, Nevada. See less
