A nostalgic vintage vitrified ceramic butter box designed to fit in the fridge. The box was produced by Hall China Co. of East Liverpool, Ohio
A high fired ceramic in the shape of a lidded box was decorated on the sides with silhouettes of English gentlemen smoking and drinking tea. The design is sometimes also referred to as the “Diner Scene”. The lid edge and the box mouth are decorated with a platinum-colored band. The box's inner mouth, lid's inner edge and box foot are not glazed. The body and lid are glazed in a thick cream-colored glaze.
A stamped mark on the box base in silver reads HALL'S SUPERIOR QUALITY KITCHENWARE MADE IN U.S.A.
Please note that we also have a matching square refrigerator dish available. Please search for the words “Tavern Silhouette” within our shop to locate it.
