Gaston Poisson (1906–1971), French cabinetmaker and designer active between the 1930s and 1950s. Inspired by Art Deco, Poisson distinguished himself with furniture featuring clean geometric lines, combining functionality and refinement. He used fine woods such as oak and mahogany, often enhanced by meticulous finishing and highly architectural detailing. This table embodies his style: balanced proportions, sculpted legs, and timeless elegance.
Solid oak coffee table attributed to Gaston Poisson, circa 1945–50, characterized by a sculptural central base with horizontal grooves, typical of his work. The understated, structured design, the top with softened angles, and the satin finish are emblematic of his late Art Deco creations. Although unsigned, the quality of workmanship and architectural style allow for an attribution to his workshop. An elegant and authentic piece for lovers of distinctive French furniture. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
