This umbrella stand from the 1960s is a charming example of functional, everyday design with a clear sense of formal reduction.
Made in Germany, it combines metal and painted surfaces. The frame consists of four white-painted round steel brackets that serve as umbrella loops.
These are arranged slightly offset, giving the umbrella stand a dynamic, almost sculptural effect. The base is a heavy, round cast element coated with red plastic, providing stability and a colorful accent. The whole is complemented by a red, painted handle in the center, emphasizing the vertical axis while also facilitating handling.
Design-wise, the piece oscillates between Pop Art and minimalist Bauhaus design. The clear lines, the reduced color palette, and the combination of function and design are reminiscent of designs by Hagenauer or Auböck, while the humorous touch of the ring-shaped loops also recalls the playful character of the 1960s.
Condition: The umbrella stand is in good, sturdy vintage condition. The white paint on the metal rings shows slight signs of wear consistent with age, and minor scratches are also visible on the red base and handle. Overall, the piece is well-maintained, authentic, and ready for immediate use.
