Very rare Entremanos set, designed by the Basque artist and architect Andres Nagel in 1988 for the Spanish furniture maker Akaba.
Andres Nagel is best known for his eclectic paintings and sculptures. His work is often reminiscent of Madrid New Figuratism. He was influenced by realist sculptor Eduardo Chillida in terms of subject and technique. Chillida’s focus on the human form and his affinity for forged metals can be felt in Nagel’s subsequent works.
This sculptural set consist of a desk and a matching chair. The desk as well as the chair are made of black steel. On top of the desk it has a drawer unit in cherry wood, and on both sides a halogen lamp held by a hand. The writing surface is in leatherette. The seat of the chair is upholstered in black leather and the hands return in the backrest. The height of the desk is 73cm.
A great postmodern set, very interesting for the collectors.
The set is in good original condition. Some normal wear on the top of the desk. The wood is excellent and both lights are fully functional. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
