Pair of antique Art Nouveau period silver plated and cut-glass claret jugs by WMF, circa 1910. Well executed carved design on a slender, flared body with a clean lined silver-plated mount having a squared spout and amply sized handle. A working "stop hinge" allows the lid to rest at a right angle when opened. Starburst pattern is on the bottom. Beautiful with a table setting or as elegant bedside carafes.
WMF hallmark on collar with the recognizable ostrich
N indicates the base metal as Neusilber (German term silver nickel)
I/O is a specific mark used by WMF indicated good, heavy silver plating
