Yellow Vintage Chinese - Tibetan 1960s Rug, Circa Date: 1960s. This exceptional piece from the mid-20th century exemplifies the bold, graphic style emerging from the Chinese and Tibetan weaving traditions of the era. The field is dominated by a rich, saturated yellow hue, making it a standout example among yellow color rugs.

The rug features a magnificent, roaring tiger rendered in vivid yellow stripes, a powerful symbol of strength and protection in East Asian culture. The stylized, almost abstract depiction of the animal, set against the dark ground, gives the piece a dynamic and modern feel, moving away from traditional curvilinear designs toward stark geometric rugs.

Woven with thick, durable wool, characteristic of high-quality Tibetan production, the texture is plush and substantial. This aesthetic, combining traditional iconography with a distinctly modern sensibility, positions it perfectly within our collection of vintage area rugs that appeal to contemporary designers.

Its compact dimensions make it an ideal small scatter size piece, suitable for an entryway, bedside accent, or perhaps even a dramatic wall hanging, allowing the powerful imagery to be fully appreciated. This 1960s Tibetan-Chinese rug is a rare, expressive artifact of textile art. See less
