Standing 41.5 cm (16.3") tall, this striking vase reinterprets the traditional vessel form with an elongated silhouette. Reminiscent of a milk jug, it features a gracefully arched handle and a spouted lip, finished in a creamy glaze subtly accented with soft blue and grey tones. Just below the rim, a decorative band of stylised fruit and plant motifs encircles the vessel, adding visual interest. The dark brown glaze at the base gradually fades upward, creating a warm gradient effect. A commanding piece with both sculptural presence and conversational appeal. In good overall condition. The makers' signature is on the underside. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video will be provided. About the artists: michel anasse (1935–2020) and nicole anasse (1937–2012) were a husband-and-wife ceramicist duo based in vallauris from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. Self-taught, they established the les issarts workshop, creating imaginative, hand-built stoneware pieces fired in their own wood kiln. Nicole was known for her whimsical animal forms, particularly roosters and owls, while michel explored bold sculptural vessels and later metalwork. Active in the vallauris art community, they exhibited widely and helped found the vallauris ceramics biennale. In 1973, they relocated to the ubaye valley in northern provence, where they continued producing distinctive, highly collectible works.
