This hand-crafted square plate features her signature vivid chartreuse-green crackle glaze with a richly textured brown banded base. Barbara Willis (1917–2011), a graduate of UCLA, studied under renowned ceramist Laura Andreson and soon opened her own studio in Los Angeles. By the late 1940s, she had expanded to a North Hollywood studio, employing a dozen or more artisans to produce her signature Terrene line.

Rediscovered by collectors in the mid-1990s, she returned to hand-crafting ceramics in her Malibu kitchen in her late 70s, continuing well into her early 90s. This piece is a beautifully crafted example of her modernist vision.
