Such ornaments were used originally to decorate the roof of the transitional buildings in Southeast Asia. They were carved in the lovely Silhouette of Hong bird, a mythical bird of infinite grace. As an auspicious creature, it symbolizes miracles and was widely used as a motif in royal architectural designs in Southeast Asia.
These pair displayed significant and attractive patina that includes old repair. They make a very charming accent pieces for any bespoken interior. See less
