This decoy is likely a creation of the Mason Duck Co., of Detroit, Michigan, circa 1920's. The decoy has great patina as shown in the pictures and it measures 15" long, 6" wide, and 6-1/2" tall.
We believe that the paint is original and shows the ware of many years of use and bears all the hallmarks of a “Standard Grade”, glass eye, solid wood Duck, made by the company in the early 1900’s. The glass eyes remain intact and are in beautiful condition.
It has the distinctive head and body shape, sloping profile, long streamlined body and the dark redhead chest and lighter back, consistent with a Male Canvasback Duck.
It has some cracks, at least two nail repairs and the plaster around the neck joint is slightly cracked and deteriorated.
