This vintage German weather station is a stunning example of mid-century design and craftsmanship. Styled after the Sputnik satellite launched in October 1957, the piece features a clear plexiglass globe fitted with a thermometer, hygrometer, and barometer. Metal probe-like rods extend from the sides, echoing the iconic look of the satellite, while brass accents add elegance and warmth.
The dual temperature gauge reads both Centigrade and Fahrenheit, paired with a humidity gauge and barometer, making it as practical as it is decorative. The globe rotates freely on its solid brass base, which retains its original green felt bottom and includes a fitted slot for optional wall mounting.
Hallmarked “Made in Germany” on the lower edge of each gauge, this instrument exemplifies the precision and quality of its time. In excellent condition with a soft, aged patina, all gauges appear to function normally. A true conversation piece for collectors of space memorabilia, mid-century design, or scientific instruments.
