This particular print, titled 'Oude Gedenktekenen op het Paasch-Eiland,' translates to 'Ancient Monuments on Easter Island.' It depicts the iconic Moai statues of Easter Island (Rapa Nui), which is a part of Chile. J.D. Pasteur was responsible for translating Cook's voyages into Dutch, making the incredible stories of Cook's explorations accessible to the Dutch-speaking public. The work was published by the collaborative effort of Honkoop, Allart en Van Cleef, which were notable publishing houses active at the time.
