A delightful small, hand-decorated, polychrome vitrified porcelain sculpture depicting a red-crested cockatoo parrot, signed under the base in underglaze blue … Read more A delightful small, hand-decorated, polychrome vitrified porcelain sculpture depicting a red-crested cockatoo parrot, signed under the base in underglaze blue with one of the rudolstadt manufactory's trademarks. Made in germany and dated to the early 20th century. Despite its small size, the sculpture is undoubtedly of the highest artistic quality. Noteworthy is the beauty of the plumage decoration, entirely hand-painted by the artist using brush strokes. The pose is also beautiful, a beautiful model of a cockatoo, albeit small.

the german town of rudolstadt is famous for the numerous artistic porcelain factories that operated there. Our parrot's mark is one of the oldest and most important, founded in 1762 by g. H. Macheleid and still operating today. Our mark is number 11 (see last photo), used in the early decades of the 20th century until 1977, when it was replaced with a very similar one but with a thinner line and a date underneath.
