George GRATTAN (1787-1819) Watercolor Painting Of A Wondering Man.
This captivating early 19th-century figurative watercolor depicts a man with a walking stick in a landscape, characterized by its expressive quality and portrayal of a pensive figure. The artist was born in Dublin in 1787, Grattan displayed an early talent for art, receiving medals and financial support from the Dublin Society for his studies at their schools. Beyond this piece, his works include "David and Abigail," "Jane Shore dying," and a large painting titled "Beggar-woman and Child," which the Dublin Society purchased and helped him exhibit in London.
