In true Art Deco style, … Read more A delightful pair of porcelain sparrows, entirely hand-decorated with airbrushing, depicted in a flirtatious manner. In true Art Deco style, they feature stylized details, such as the barely visible legs against the white base. They date to around 1920-1930. Signed under the base with the old Hungarian Zsolnay porcelain factory mark, the five churches in underglaze blue, one of the factory's oldest marks and certainly more valuable than its more recent counterparts.

The Zsolnay porcelain factory is a historic and prestigious Hungarian manufacturer in the city of Pécs, specializing in the production of porcelain, tiles, and artistic ceramics. Founded in 1853 by Vilmos Zsolnay's father, the latter took over management ten years later. The factory now houses a museum displaying the history and works of the manufacturer, internationally recognized for the quality and beauty of its objects. This piece has an attribution mark,
