this exquisite antique pitcher was made by the renowned french manufacturer longwy around 1900.
crafted in fine faience, it features a beautiful bulbous silhouette and is adorned with a rich red floral transferware motif, delicately applied on a soft ivory-toned background.
founded in 1798, longwy is one of the oldest ceramic manufacturers in france, renowned for its fine faience and distinctive enamel work. While their cloisonné pieces are widely collected, their early transferware ceramics are equally admired for their elegance and craftsmanship.
its romantic design and generous proportions make it ideal as a decorative vase, a sculptural accent for a french country interior, or a collector's piece of historic french pottery.
the piece is fully marked on the base with the longwy france crown hallmark, dating it to the late 19th or early 20th century.
