Item :
Magnificent majolica jug with a wide banded handle, entirely handcrafted on a wheel, glazed with thick, compact, feldspar-rich glazes that allowed for rich vitrification in the second firing. It is entirely hand-decorated with a blue and white chequered heraldic shield, with three Florentine lilies in the upper panels, and a final, larger, stylized lily above the upper edge of the shield. Blue foliage wreaths on a white background adorn the entire jug, and two bands of leaves adorn the mouth and base, inside two yellow transverse stripes. This unsigned piece is attributable to the Montelupo Florentine factory and dates to the second half of the 18th century, based on its shape, the type of majolica used, the excellent patina, and the rich vitrification. The presence of the Florentine lily in the decoration is classic for Florentine production, confirming our attribution of the jug to the Montelupo Fiorentino factory. Please note that the jug is very large, made of a very thick ceramic biscuit, very heavy, with a sturdy handle, and high-quality decoration. It is an antique and very rare object, perfect for art lovers and collectors. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
