This rather stunning, 1848 dated needlework sampler made during the reign of Queen Victorian by young Mary Ann Cowell aged … Read more This rather stunning, 1848 dated needlework sampler made during the reign of Queen Victorian by young Mary Ann Cowell aged 10 years old I have three others of these samplers for sale, they are dated 1830, 1747 and 1888, this sale is for the one mentioned above only, the others are listed under my other items This really is a piece of history, pure folk art, its super decorative and highly collectable The sampler has a prayer, the ABC's, some animals and floral decorations and so on, it is really a quality piece of work The condition is as you can see in the pictures, is pretty wonderful, the Flamed Mahogany frame has a gold gilded boarder, it really adds a sense of gravitas to the tapestry, the fabric has one area of perishing towards the middle top, otherwise its in very fine order for a 177 year old piece Dimensions Height:- 46cm Width:- 45cm Depth:- 4.5cm See less
