An exquisite lacquered French papier-mâché tray having fine marquetry of abalone shells depicting forget-me-not flowers and foliage with additional finely painted detail, further decorated with shell mosaics along the outer border enhanced with finely gilded motifs, painted leaves and highlights of red flowers. It is a lovely feast for the eyes. Circa 1848-1870.
