Chair has been fully restored … Read more An authentic 19th century Louis XVI-style armchair with generous proportions and typical period masculine silhouette. Chair has been fully restored in 100% wool Ralph Lauren plaid tartan, with chair back and armrests accented with deep green Chesterfield leather complementing wool's black and olive tones. Brass tack finish.

Intricately carved gilt wood frame was at some point painted over - all paint was painstakingly removed to reveal period original gilt finish. The gilt wood frame has acquired deep patina with distressed look - please review pictures carefully to ensure alignment of expectations.

This one-of-a-kind piece was acquired through deaccession by the Thomas Jefferson Foundation, Inc., with proceeds benefiting the Foundation’s Conservation and Acquisitions Fund. While not directly associated with Thomas Jefferson or Monticello, the chair was released as it fell outside the Foundation's core collection scope.
