Abstract geometric Cubist oil painting on canvas housed in elaborately molded gilded wood frame. The piece features a pattern of opposing diagonal lines that create a triangular fractal pattern. Although bound by geometry, the method is painterly with textured brush strokes adding dimension and a humanist touch. The artist deep tones of burgundy, teal and green with highlights of white, red, ochre and blue. The painting is rendered on canvas surrounded by a frame with character just as rich as the artwork itself. The artist signed and dated the piece, “M Gargiulo, 1959.”
