Delightful glazed ceramic jug with majolica decoration, featuring a beautiful design on the central belly depicting a young nobleman, presumably a prince. the spout and handle are decorated with a green band embellished with black diamonds decorated on the inside, two bands on either side of the central decoration and one on the back in cadmium yellow, also decorated on the inside, interspersed with two green and blue bands with black crosswise lines. The frame with alternating white and blue squares around the central decoration and the blue border on the spout and at the bottom of the base, on a white background, are also beautiful. The model of the jug, with a three-lobed spout and a wide handle, is that of the Neo-Renaissance jugs of the 1600s, made by manufacturers such as Montelupo Fiorentino, for example. The object dates back to the early decades of the 20th century and was made by the Farina factory in Faenza. It is signed under the base in blue underglaze with the Star of David and the letter "F" inside, and the word "Faenza" written underneath.

Useful information for evaluating the item:
Through online research, we have found that items of this manufacture have very high auction prices, with peaks of €4,000 - €5,000. Bear in mind that we are talking about auction bases, prices that could rise during the auction and to which auction fees of 25-30% must be added. Finally, bear in mind that we are talking about rather old auctions, from 2002 to 2012, whose prices, compared to today, taking inflation into account, would undoubtedly be much higher.

Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
The "A. Farina & Figlio" factory was founded in 1876 by Achille Farina (1804-1879) in Faenza. Important artists collaborated with this manufacturer, from Domenico Baccarini to Achille Calzi, and then Aldo Zama, Amedeo Meinardi, Marcello Zanetti, Roberto Mazza, Tommaso dal Pozzo, Giuseppe Melandri, and Riccardo Gatti. In the last photo, we have added further historical notes on this important manufacturer and the various marks it used, including ours, used from 1918 onwards.
