Intriguing wood constructivist sculpture from the estate of Willis F Woods. Constructed of wood and wooden dowels and painted in a copper color, this sculpture has a raw, minimalist and industrial quality. This may have been a gift to Woods or perhaps one of his artistic experiments.
Willis F Woods was the Director of the Detroit Institute of Arts (1962-1973), former Executive Director of the Seattle Art Museum (1974-1979). He was an artist himself and held other important positions in the art world.
