This set of twelve (12) rare antique, 18th century quarto size copperplate neoclassical engravings depict figures out of ancient Greco - Roman mythology that were carved into antique (the stones themselves were antique when they were engraved) gem stones. Printed on one side only, they were engraved by the well known John Spilsbury and published by the famous publisher John Boydell in London in the mid - late 1700's. Each engraving is titled including the name of the collection in which it resided. A great point of history as well as a large, sophisticated monochromatic wall treatment or several smaller groupings. Dimensions: 7" x 10.75". Very good condition
