The print shows the neoclassical façade of the royal residence with its columned portico and balanced architectural proportions surrounded by a natural landscape of tall leafy trees. In the foreground, a royal carriage drawn by two horses is escorted by uniformed guards, while elegantly dressed figures sit within the carriage, suggesting a scene of royal leisure, ceremony, or arrival. This engraving was published in Amsterdam by G. Lommer, as noted in the inscription. It dates from the early 19th century, most likely circa 1820–1830, when Tervuren was a favored residence of the Prince of Orange and other members of the Dutch royal family during the period of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands (1815–1830). Tervuren has a long royal history dating back to medieval hunting lodges later transformed into classical pleasure palaces. The finely etched details, from the architectural elements of the Lusthuis to the textures of trees and horse tack, exemplify Dutch and Flemish graphic traditions of topographical and architectural prints designed for noble patrons and collectors. Such views were popular as souvenirs of royal residences and symbols of national or dynastic pride. Condition: Fair to good condition for its age. There is some light overall toning and minor foxing spots, mostly in the margins, consistent with a print of this era. Plate marks are clearly visible, and the impression is strong with fine lines preserved. No tears or repairs noted. Framing Tip: For optimal presentation, frame this engraving with a classic black, walnut, or gilded moulding paired with a neutral museum-quality mount to highlight its architectural dignity and royal historical context. Non-reflective glass is recommended to protect the delicate lines. See less
