this refined art deco cigarette case is a fine example of viennese craftsmanship from the early 20th century, likely produced shortly after world war i for export within europe.

the exterior features a vivid deep cobalt to blue-violet guilloché enamel, displaying a radiant engine-turned pattern beneath translucent enamel. The finely engraved silver frame adds an elegant contrast and reflects the high level of workmanship typical of vienna during this period.

the interior is gilded and fitted with its original elastic strap. The case opens smoothly via a push mechanism set with a small polished onyx cabochon.

the piece is deeply hallmarked on both sides, including:

“935” silver standard (93.5% purity)
“sterling”
swedish import mark (three crowns in oval)
“s” mark for silver
additional maker’s or control marks resembling “9” and “3”

these multiple, clearly struck marks are characteristic of high-quality export silver from the austrian republic period.
