A finely executed stipple and mezzotint engraving in rich colours, depicting the Dean of Westminster in a sumptuous cope carrying the Imperial State Crown upon a gold-embroidered cushion. This moment from the coronation of King George IV at Westminster Abbey on July 19, 1821, shows the Dean bringing the crown from the altar for the act of crowning. Condition: Very good colour retention and impression. Crease at upper right and tear in lower right within the platemark border, pressed almost through the paper but not separating; light overall age toning; minor scattered foxing and handling marks in the margins. Platemark strong; paper otherwise sound and stable.
