Original architectural etching by Joseph Pennell (American, 1857–1926), one of the leading illustrators and printmakers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Pennell was a prolific artist celebrated for his finely detailed etchings of European cities, architecture, and landscapes, often published in books and travel journals of the era.
This etching depicts an Italian hillside villa with arches and surrounding foliage, showcasing Pennell’s masterful line work and eye for atmosphere. Signed in the plate at lower right. Nicely presented in a gilt-accented wood frame with matting, ready to hang.
