The piece is fully signed underneath, … Read more Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso "Alexandrite" purple Italian art glass paperweight / sculpture. The piece is fully signed underneath, “Oggetti Murano". The paperweight is attributed to designer Alfredo Barbini. It also has the original red lettering and clear "Oggetti" label still attached. It has a Minimalist / Space Age style, with floating bubble inside. It is created with Neodymium glass, which changes color from daylight to indoor light. In this case under daylight it has a purple color, but it turns ice blue under indoor florescent lights. It has a flat side (where its signed) so it does not roll away. Can be displayed 2 ways, standing or on its side. Would make a great piece for any desk, coffee table or credenza. Showcase it as a decorative piece in any room. Late Mid-century era. Measures: 4 1/4" tall x 3 3/8" wide.
