Villeroy & Boch is a German ceramic manufacturer with a history dating back to 1748, when François Boch and his sons started a pottery business in Audun-le-Tiche, Lorraine. In 1836, the company merged with Nicolas Villeroy's faience (tin-glazed earthenware) manufactory, forming Villeroy & Boch. Villeroy & Boch marked its 275th anniversary in 2023.

Robj, on the other hand, was an "éditeur" (publisher) of decorative arts, not a manufacturer, who commissioned pieces from various factories, including Villeroy & Boch, during the Art Deco period.

Robj was known for its liquor bottles, often in the shape of people, as well as other decorative items like bonbonnières and incense burners. Robj bottles in the shape of people were best sellers. The range was launched in 1928 with more than 40 character bottles. The bottles were reissued in the 1990s. See less
