Offered is a framed authorized reproduction of Henri Matisse's "Les Velours" (1947). This is an iconic Matisse composition from his cut-out series, specifically for his Jazz portfolio. It is a fine art silkscreen print created using a technique called pochoir. This technique, a stencil printing method, was used to reproduce the colors of Matisse's original cut-paper composition for his Jazz Portfolio as faithfully as possible. The print was made on heavyweight archival paper with vibrant ink colors and a matte finish. This specific reproduction was licensed by Ikea for their Artist Series (1999-2009), where they featured art works by Matisse, Picasso, Da Vinci, and others in their shadow-box Olunda frame. The print is mounted on foam core giving it a three dimensional appearance so that it appears to float in the frame - see detailed images.
Frame: Length 41.5" x 15.5" x Depth 1.25".
Matisse's original "Les Velours" was created using his innovative technique of paper cut-outs, where he cut shapes from painted paper and arranged them into compositions.
Pochoir Printing:
The Jazz Portfolio and its prints, including "Les Velours", were produced using the pochoir technique. Pochoir is a stencil-based method that allows for the precise reproduction of colors and details from the original artwork.
