This imposing piece combines function with decorative elegance, boasting intricate marquetry, fine gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, and a wealth of storage throughout. The upper section comprises a raised cabinet with a shaped pediment adorned with a gilded central plaque, flanked by glazed side doors opening to reveal banks of miniature drawers. The main writing surface is beautifully inset with a hand-coloured hide leather top, framed by detailed inlays.
