Large and hand-painted 18th C American Tole tinware Tray.
Black ground with red, green and gold detailing with a New England village scene in the centerpiece.
Hand holds on both sides, oval edges. 26" wide by 18.5" tall - perfect for artisan display or for use.
Showing patina but still clear, with lovely aged color and sturdy construction. Clearly hand hewn and painted thanks to the wonderful imperfection of the detailing - fabulous!

We have seen many fine federal, colonial, and British Colonial tole and tinware trays. BUT, this is the largest one we've encountered, and the centerpiece scene is VERY well presented. The mix of red and green frame trims and the matte aged black base are equally charming...it's a great piece.
A traditional counterpoint in nearly any style of room!
