Item description:
Cast ceramic vase (clay with added kaolin, also known as soft porcelain) with geometric airbrush decorations featuring intersecting horizontal and vertical lines, signed under the base Galvani Pordenone with a mark used until 1968, catalog number, and capital letter "A."
Useful information for evaluating the item:
Through our research, we have found that auction prices for ceramics from this manufacturer range from a minimum of €400-500 to as much as €5,000-7,000 for a single vase, only 28 cm tall. Please note that auction fees of 25-30% must be added to the hammer price and that prices are often much lower than the actual results in order to attract more interested buyers so that the item fetches a higher price during the auction.
Final considerations on the object:
A truly beautiful and particularly valuable vase considering that the grid decoration with transverse and horizontal lines created using an airbrush is characteristic of the works of Angelo Simonetto, who, as we have mentioned, was the artistic director of the Galvani factory and one of the main and most important artists who collaborated with it.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
The Galvani ceramics factory in Pordenone was founded in 1811 by Giuseppe Galvani. In 1911, management of the factory passed to Andrea Galvani. Under the artistic direction of Angelo Simonetto, the factory abandoned traditional production and began to create modernist works, often decorated with airbrush designs using stencils, which soon made it world famous for the beauty and quality of its artistic ceramics, especially in the Futurist style.
