The color of the upholstery on the chairs and cushions is brown. The frame of the chairs is carved wood with gilt gold. There is also black lace trim where the upholstery meets the wood. Not sure of the age of the chairs. They could be older than the "period made" category in the listing. See less

- Wear is consistent with age. The upholstery has marks, scuffs, wear and stains in areas. The upholstery appears to have … moreWear is consistent with age. The upholstery has marks, scuffs, wear and stains in areas. The upholstery appears to have been dark brown and is now faded all throughout to a light to very light brown. The photo with the cushions off the chair shows an example of this. You can see the color is dark brown where the cushions go and the rest of the chair is faded to a light brown color. There is wear to the giltwood finish, especially on the arm rests from use and age. The black lace where the upholstery meets the giltwood is glued on, showing some glue residue in areas, and also showing where some areas meet. There is a photo of the upper back crest showing an example of this. On the back crest area of one chair there are marks, scuffs and wood loss showing gilt loss. less
